1. About These Terms

These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of the PetrolPal website and service at petrolpal.co.uk ("Service"), operated by Recurse LTD, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the Service.

2. The Service

PetrolPal is a free fuel price comparison tool that aggregates publicly available fuel price data from the UK Government Fuel Finder API and EV charging data from Open Charge Map. The Service allows you to:

• Compare live fuel prices from UK petrol stations
• Find EV charging points near you
• Plan routes with fuel stop calculations
• View fuel price statistics and trends
• Create an account to save preferences and receive alerts

3. Data Accuracy

Fuel prices displayed on PetrolPal are sourced from third-party data providers and are provided on an "as is" basis. While we refresh data frequently (every 10 minutes for fuel prices), we cannot guarantee that all prices are accurate, complete, or current at any given time. Prices may differ from what you find at the pump due to:

• Delays in data reporting by fuel retailers
• Price changes between data refreshes
• Errors in source data from the UK Government API

You should always verify the current price at the station before purchasing. PetrolPal is not responsible for any discrepancies between displayed prices and actual prices charged.

4. Accounts

You may create a free account to access additional features such as saved vehicles, favourite stations, and price alerts. When creating an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information
• Keep your password secure
• Not share your account with others
• Notify us if you suspect unauthorised access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You must not use the Service to:

• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data beyond normal use
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Attempt to access accounts or data belonging to other users
• Use automated tools to access the Service at excessive rates
• Submit false reports or inaccurate data
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

6. Intellectual Property

The PetrolPal name, logo, and website design are owned by Recurse LTD. Fuel price data is sourced from the UK Government under the Open Government Licence. EV charging data is sourced from Open Charge Map under their open data terms.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our prior written consent, except as permitted by applicable law.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recurse LTD shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your use of or inability to use the Service
• Any inaccuracy in fuel price or EV charging data
• Any unauthorised access to your account
• Any interruption or cessation of the Service

The Service is provided free of charge on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
