What is PetrolPal?
PetrolPal is a free, open fuel price comparison tool that helps UK drivers find the cheapest petrol and diesel near them. It also doubles as an EV charger finder and a route planner that automatically calculates fuel stops along your journey.
The service covers over 7,000 fuel stations across the United Kingdom and hundreds of EV charging points, all displayed on an interactive map with real-time pricing data.
How It Works
1. Share your location
Allow location access or search by postcode or town name to find stations near you.
2. Compare prices
Nearby stations are colour-coded on the map — green for cheap, yellow for average, red for expensive.
3. Filter & sort
Filter by fuel type, brand, station type, and distance. Sort by price or proximity.
4. Get directions
Tap any station to get one-click directions via Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze.
Where Does the Data Come From?
PetrolPal uses official and open data sources to ensure accuracy and reliability:
UK Government Fuel Finder
Fuel station locations and live prices are sourced from the UK Government's official Fuel Finder service. This is the same data retailers are legally required to report.
Open Charge Map
EV charging point locations, connector types, and power levels come from the Open Charge Map, the world's largest open registry of EV charging stations.
OpenStreetMap & OSRM
Map tiles, geocoding (place name search), and driving route calculations are powered by OpenStreetMap data and the Open Source Routing Machine.

Prices shown on PetrolPal reflect the latest data reported by fuel retailers to the UK Government. In practice, most station prices are accurate to within a few hours. If you notice a price that seems incorrect, it may not yet have been updated by the retailer.

Price accuracy: Prices are sourced from official government data and updated every 10 minutes. However, retailers may not always update their prices immediately, so small discrepancies can occur. Always confirm the price at the pump.
Coverage: PetrolPal covers the UK only. Station data depends on retailer participation in the government's reporting scheme.
