Frequently Asked Questions

How current are PetrolPal's fuel prices?

Prices come from the UK Government Fuel Finder API and are refreshed every 10 minutes. Each station shows when its price was last updated, so you can judge freshness before you drive.

Where does the price data come from?

Fuel retailers submit their forecourt prices to the UK Government's official Fuel Finder scheme. PetrolPal reads that same official dataset directly, covering over 7,000 stations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Is PetrolPal free?

Yes. PetrolPal is completely free, with no ads and no account required to compare prices. Creating a free account adds extras like favourites, a virtual garage, and saved routes.

Does PetrolPal cover diesel and premium fuel?

Yes. You can compare standard unleaded (E10), premium unleaded (E5), diesel, and premium diesel, and see which stations sell HVO or B10 where that data is available.

Can I find EV chargers or plan fuel stops along a route?

Yes. The map has an EV mode with connector and power filters using Open Charge Map data, and the route planner finds the cheapest fuel stops along your journey based on your vehicle's tank size and MPG.

Why might the pump price differ from the displayed price?

Retailers submit price updates on their own schedule, so a station that changed its price minutes ago may briefly show its previous price. Every price shows its last-updated time, and you can report incorrect prices from any station's details.
